Through September 15 -- "Hooray for the Bay" Contest. Showing your love for the Chesapeake Bay could win you $2,500. To enter, send a picture of one of the 100 Bay Plate Factoids, which are located at parks, schools and community centers around the state, along with a short description of why you love the bay. Judging is based on originality, creativity, relevancy and amusement factor. Submit your entry by e-mail contest@baytrust.org, online www.bayplate.org/contest.html or text "BAYPLATE" to 24587. September 21-October 13 -- AFI Latin American Film Festival at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring. Now in its 21st year, the AFI Latin American Film Festival showcases the best filmmaking from Latin America and, with the inclusion of films from Spain and Portugal, celebrates Ibero-American cultural connections. With a cruise-inspired theme of "One Ship: Many Destinations," the expo offers live entertainment such as Caribbean dancing, the Senior Idol finalists, a live auction, a limbo contest, Love Boat trivia game, demonstrations and performances.
